Electoral Register Data	Retained while individual appears on register, potentially up to 16 years after ceasing to be listed. Full copies may be retained for research for up to 20 years.
Credit Account Performance Data	Up to 11 years from account closure/settlement/default. Most recent 6 years used for live decision-making, remaining 5 years for profiling and analysis.
Current Account Turnover Data	6 years. Up to 2 years of monthly data used in decisioning, remainder for profiling and analysis.
Application Salary and Other Demographic Data	6 years from date provided. Most recent 3 years for live decision-making, remaining 3 years for profiling, analysis, and audit.
Judgment Data	11 years from judgment/court date. Most recent 6 years for live decision-making, remaining 5 years for profiling and analysis.
Insolvency Data	11 years from insolvency event or until stated end date (whichever is later). Most recent 6 years for live decision-making, remaining 5 years for profiling and analysis.
Rental Related Data	Up to 11 years: 6 years during tenancy period plus 5 years from end of tenancy.
Search Footprints	6 years total. Most recent 2 years for live decision-making, remaining 4 years for profiling and analysis.
Fraud Prevention Indicators	As specified by fraud prevention service. Typically 6 years for suspected fraud/money laundering risk, 2 years for suspected fraud victims.
Other Third Party Data	Various periods depending on data nature and licence period from data supplier.
Address Links	30 years from date link was last confirmed.
Alias Links	30 years from date person was last seen under previous name.
Financial Association Links	Until no joint accounts remain open between relevant individuals and one party requests removal.
Notices of Dispute	As long as accuracy of relevant data is being investigated.
Notices of Correction	Same period as data to which they relate, or until individual requests removal.
Archived Data	Additional periods of up to 15 months beyond standard retention periods for research, compliance, audit, disaster recovery, and legal claims.
General Principles	• All retention periods are subject to legal and regulatory requirements, which may necessitate longer retention in certain circumstances. • Data is regularly reviewed and disposed of securely when no longer required for any legitimate business purpose. • Retention periods may be extended where legal claims are pending or reasonably anticipated. • All data processing activities comply with applicable data protection legislation and industry codes of practice. • Regular audits are conducted to ensure compliance with stated retention periods and secure disposal procedures.
Important Notes	Judgment Data Removal: Information about a judgment may be removed from an individual's credit file if the judgment is paid within one calendar month of the date of the judgment, or if the judgment is set aside or recalled by the courts. Extended Insolvency Events: Insolvency data may be retained for longer than standard periods where the relevant event is extended beyond normal timeframes. Consumers are advised to contact CRAIN when insolvency events conclude to ensure credit reference data is updated accordingly. Data Not Specifically Covered: Where the retention table does not provide a specific retention period, CRAIN retains such data for a period determined as appropriate considering relevance, accuracy, necessity, contractual restrictions, regulatory requirements, industry practice, and legal limitation periods. Marketing Services Data: The retention periods outlined above do not include personal data used in marketing services.
